Lee Porter at D'Signs on the Granby Industrial Estate has launched the colourful sticker for sale on eBay at a price of £3. It reads: I Survived! Asda Traffic Lights Weymouth.
Mr Porter, who previously designed and manufactured the “Keep Portland Weird” stickers that can be seen adorning cars in and around Weymouth and Portland, decided to dream up a new sticker after dicing with death at the controversial traffic lights that have proved so unpopular Dorset County Council has had to bring in the new ‘phased’ light system.
He said: “When the lights were completed I was driving through there when I had a near miss (not my fault may I add as I was going straight over) and I thought that could be a perfect bumper sticker as I had spoke to a few people that had encountered the same problem!
“They are printed on white self adhesive vinyl so they can be stuck to pretty much any surface. I have printed 200 for the first batch but can print more batches when needed as I have my on sign making company, D’Signs. You can buy both bumper stickers from eBay, from our unit at 47 Cambridge Road, Granby or from the Pebble Beach florist on Portland. I am also keen to get the stickers into local shops for a commission based sale.”
Mr Porter added: “It all started when a friend of mine came back from Portland Oregon and purchased a “Keep Portland Weird” bumper sticker from there. His friend wanted me to create one similar saying “Keep Purbeck Weird”. After doing this I thought I would create the “Keep Portland Weird” bumper stickers, around 300 of these have been sold to date.”
Comments
I want more than a bumper sticker for surviving that junction. I think we should all get rosettes and certificates and maybe a rebate from our car insurance company for driving cautiously through it and not causing them to pay out for repairs. Maybe they can produce padded bumper stickers to give extra protection when the inevitable happens!
