There are some good schools in the Weymouth and Portland area - lots of them - so you really need to do your homework if you are moving here with school-age children.
Information about local schools can be found on this website via the box 'Local Places and Services' or by going straight to this link. You can also go to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's website directory. You just need to type in the name of the school.
You can also get some good general information from the excellent government website Direct Gov.
Most schools have their own websites, which contain a wealth of information. You can also request details about exam results and league tables. But one of the best ways of finding out about the schools is by asking parents in the locality. Personal recommendation is a great way to find out what a school is really like.
