Clever clogs in Weymouth and Portland celebrate great GCSE results

There were some cracking GCSE results across Dorset this week, with Weymouth schoolboy Oliver Mulley, from Budmouth, getting 14 A*s and one A, the higest ever result in the school's history.

There were some good performances too at Wey Valley School. Emily Flinn, of Osmington, achieved the highest results in the year, She had seven A*s and two As.

Mitchell and Fern Beard, who are brother and sister and go to Royal Manor, Portland, got 25 GCSEs at grade A* to C between them.

Budmouth Technology College principal David Akers said the percentage of students with A* to C grades was higher than ever.

Somed 76 per cent of pupils within the Chesil Education Partnership, including Budmouth Technology College, Wey Valley School and Sports College, Royal Manor School and All Saints C of E School, achieved five A* to C grades.
