There's a new opportunity for people in Weymouth to get their concerns heard by the police - without having to drop into their nearest branch of the blue lamp.

A drop in 'surgery' starts in September, which police aim to make a monthly event. With each session lasting for two hours, the idea is for people who live in the area to raise any issues or concerns they have.

Any action taken on matters raised will be then be discussed at the next PACT (Partners & Communities Together) meeting - which any member of the public can attend, and are held in Weymouth's fire station near Asda.

Police Community Support Officer Pauline Loveless told Weymouth People that the drop-in meetings are in addition to the street corner meetings already being held in between PACT meetings, which only occur every 12 weeks.

Working from the Westham area of Weymouth, PCSO Loveless is keen to get the word out about the drop-ins, hoping that they'll increase accessibility to the police.

The first drop-in will be at St Paul's Parish Centre in Abbotsbury Road on Monday 7th September, between 6 and 8pm. If you can't make that, October's drop-in will again be on the 7th - but in the daytime between 12 and 2pm.
