Residents are being asked to use safe crossing points during a footpath diversion near Morrison’s supermarket in Weymouth.
From Monday 1 March, the temporary path around the Weymouth Relief Road Manor Roundabout works will be closed.
Approaching
from the town centre, pedestrians will be diverted onto the west side
of Dorchester Road at Morrison’s and through the existing Manor subway.
From the Wey Valley school direction, walkers will be advised to use the pelican crossing near Radipole Lane.
Dorset County Council Head of Highways Andy Ackerman said: “Signs
will be put in place at the Morrison’s crossing and at the pelican
crossing near Radipole Lane advising pedestrians that they need to
cross the road.
“For people approaching from the town centre,
there are also safe pelican crossings near the police station on
Dorchester Road and near Spa Road.
“Please don’t leave crossing
the road until you reach the roundabout as there will be no crossing
facilities in the immediate area.”
The path is being closed so
that Dorchester Road can be tied into the roundabout, which will be
done at off peak times under stop/go boards.
Elsewhere on the
scheme, a short section of traffic management will be in place at the
Dorchester end of the A354 as work starts on the cycleway between
Stadium Roundabout in Dorchester and Manor Roundabout in Weymouth.
Temporary
traffic lights may be in place during off peak periods of the day, more
details will be put on the Weymouth Relief Road blog
