Do you want to send your royal wedding congratulations? Dorset residents have an opportunity to send their messages of goodwill to HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton ahead of the royal wedding on 29 April. A royal wedding book is now available in the reception of Dorset County Council’s main offices at County Hall, Dorchester, where people can write messages of congratulations. The book will then be sent on to St James’s Palace before the big day. The book will be open for people to sign until 5.20pm on Wednesday, 20 April.

The town of Weymouth has strong royal connections as the first English

seaside town to become a royal resort, thanks to King George III. He went

every year from 1789 to swim in Weymouth Bay with his wife Princess

Charlotte and their 15 children: 9 boys and 6 girls.

Upwey: Watch the Royal Wedding at the aptly named Royal Standard pub in Upwey, just outside Weymouth where you’ll find an idyllic Dorset pub serving its very own regal ale - Royal DT. The landlord is brewing Royal DT specially for the Royal Wedding which will be screened in the pub, whilst outside in the garden, a local couple will be celebrating their own wedding day.

Seafront: A huge street party will be organised by bars and businesses on the Seafront including the nightclubs Dusk and Aura. There will also be a big screen on the harbourside showing the event.

Osmington: Children's competitions, magicians and local artists will join the party at the village hall held by the residents.

Littlemoor: The New Inn pub is hosting a weekend reception showing the wedding from 9am and inviting the elderly from local care homes. There will be a wedding party on Friday evening complete with champagne, cake and live music. On Saturday there will be a Garden Party from 2pm with free food and squash for children, entertainment, face painting and fancy dress. Followed by an 80's disco in the evening. The weekend will finish on Sunday with a tabletop sale from midday with the proceeds going to charity followed by a royal themed quiz.

Portland: The Little Ship will host a free garden party. BBQ, face painting, bouncy castle and gladiator joust. Start at 12pm.

Weymouth and Dorchester: A Royal Wedding Sensory Experience. Babies in Weymouth and Dorchester can join in the Royal Wedding celebrations at their local baby sensory classes. Current British popular music will set the stage for wedding bells and a memorable walk through the bridal arch to symbolize the union of the happy couple. When the lights are dimmed and petals are scattered across the floor, parents will cuddle up with their babies to enjoy a spectacular farewell finale. The Royal Wedding Specials will be held on Monday 25th April at 10.30am in the Dorset Youth Association, Lubbecke Way, DT1 1QL and in Weymouth on Tuesday 26th April at 09.30 am in St Edmund's Parish Hall, Lanehouse Rocks Road, DT4 9HZ. Spaces are limited so booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made calling 07921260226 or by dropping me an email on dorchester@babysensory.co.uk
