Weasels and stoats soak up the autumn air at Weymouth - but why the influx to Weybiza?

Stoats and weasels seem to be in their element at Weymouth at the moment.
And Luke Phillips is wondering why.
“Stoats and weasels aren't the easiest of mammals to see but today we've had at least three stoat (two on Melcombe Path, Lodmoor, one on Radipole) and a weasel seen across the Weymouth Wetlands,’ he says on his Weymouth Wetlands blog this week.
He also posts some cracking pictures on the site.
He is not sure why so many are visible at the moment and is asking for suggestions as to why it might be.
If you’re not sure how to tell the difference between a stoat and a weasel, remember one is weaselly distinguishable and the other is stoatally different.

Something has been eating all the rabbits in my mum's back garden (Upwey) - she thinks it is a polecat (pine martin) which is also part of the weasel-stoat family. It's an invasion!
