I had an appointment in Dorchester Friday afternoon. Driving up the Ridgeway I became stuck behind a learner driver, a milk tanker, and two old buses! So what a surprise to find myself late for my appointment. Never mind, the fact that the relief road is ahead of target means we should soon see the back of excruciating journeys like this.
But wait - what if there's an accident and this new SINGLE carriage road is blocked? I know - use the old road – oh no, won't be able to do that. Presumably the same creative people who thought it was a good idea to close Westham Bridge and make it into a car park have decided to close the Ridgeway.
I know - I’ll use Coombe Valley Road, along with dozens of other people, like those who were on it on Friday when I came back from Dorchester - including the truck that was too wide, the four x four who eased everyone else into the hedge, and the boy racer who obviously owns that road.
Where but in Dorset do they close roads?
