I am a local person who has a disabled permit |(nil tax/blue badge) I rarely bother to go into town now, not only are prices too high (disabled usually have to use more than one car park and tickets do not transfer) but there are too few spaces for disabled - usually taken. I have several disabled friends who - like me - have driven into town, only to go back home frustrated because of no convenient spaces available.
When charges were brought in for disabled, I suggested to the council that disabled could buy a covering ticket that would last a decent period of time for all car parks. No response at all !
I have spoken to several visitors (including disabled) who find the parking here expensive and difficult.
The idea of a disabled badge is so that the person can park nearer to their destination (parking in a car park one end of town doesn't help if you need the other end!). Myself and my friends by pass Weymouth more and more and go where we are welcomed and where parking is easier and more realistically priced. This is a sad situation, we love our town and enjoy socializing/shopping but we are -as many other groups - small and our needs are easily ignored.

I agree totally Laurelanne. I am also in the same position as you but have to go into to town daily. I try not to use the car parks as I feel that a) I can't afford the fees and b) I can park on the road. But as you say there are not enough bays for the disabled so we use the road but they are jammed up a s well! As I have said elsewhere on here I am sure Dorset, and primarily, Weymouth are out to destroy our lovely town.
