British big cat expert Merrily Harpur is giving a talk at Upwey on Wednesday night. She's done some interesting research about sightings in Dorset but her conclusions are pants - demons? I think big black cats are more likely.

I think big cats are very likely in the wilds of Dorset. But demons???? I think Merrily Harpur might have been at the gin too much.

Big cats must exist in the wild, otherwise why would so many people say they've seen them?

Hello, Merrily Harpur here... the person that's giving the talk! I'd better correct the printing error before I get sectioned - I DON'T suggest mystery big cats are DEMONS - heaven forbid. No, I suggest they are 'daimones' - a word used by the ancient Greeks, in particular the Neoplatonists, for what these creatures are. I'll explain it all at the talk!

I'm looking forward to it. Aren't they spiritual, supernatural creatures? (has anyone read the Philip Pullman trilogy?) I have actually seen a big black cat in the West Dorset area and felt extremely humbled and privileged.
