Weymouth should be avoided at all costs !!!!! Once you enter the roadworks in the town you will never be the same again. Having to take major detours to get anywhere and the time delays are now getting hard to take. It must be a contender for the Guiness Book of Records for the most holes dug in one town. Everyone in Weymouth and Portland have had more than 6 months of detours, temporary traffic lights, main roads closed for long periods.
The work carried out has never been hurried and even left for long periods.
I love my town but sadly the Olympics has given the local population a bad taste in their mouths. The traffic problems due to all the major work being carried out has hit the town so hard that I fear for the future. The shopkeepers , Taxi drivers have been hit the hardest, but everyone is suffering. The upheaval has cost myself a fair amount of money and with extended travelling times to get anywhere is beyond belief. With a year and a half to go before the Olympics come to town and the road system that is being formed, I fear for the state of mind for myself and the rest of the population here.
Now the full extend of the road system are unfolding it is clear that it needs to have a public meeting with the road system designers. We the people of the Weymouth and Portand want to have our say, and be listened too.
So come on local and county council's give us a chance.
Do you think things are getting better with the new traffic lights at the botom of Abbotsbury Road? It's a bit weird still having to queue all the way down to Asda. Or maybe I'm just driving at rush hour. I am kind of dreading the King street works starting in January and just hoping it will all be worth it. I doubt the councils will host any kind of public meeting, It;s all done and dusted, we just have to put up with it,
