What a brilliant place to get close to nature. It's a huge reserve but right in the middle of town, so very easy to get to and walk around. Within a couple of minutes you'll forget about the retail park and fast food outlets nearby. All you here is the sounds of birds and water, it's a very tranquil place. Paths are flat and wide and there are seats with views across the lake. Further in are hides for watching birds. The visitor centre is great too. We're really lucky to have something like this in the heart of our town.

Radipole Lake is like an oasis in the town centre of Weymouth. The bird reserve is always popular with cormorants and swans and other sea/freshwater birds. It's a great place to take the kids - FREE! - as well as for a relaxing walk with grown ups. There are lots of reed beds, footpaths, shimmering waterfronts and birdsong to relax you. Plus there are lots of interpretation boards so you know what you are looking at! It's great during all seasons, i.e. blackberries in autumn, and there is a lovely RSPB shop where you can buy gifts and also bird food as I don't think they like you feeding bread to the ducks.
