The arrest took place on the 19th February but the items have not been reported as stolen. Today Weymouth CID released images of the cutlery.
Detective Constable Andy Marsh said: ""The teaspoons with the gold inlays and engravings are particularly recognisable and may have been presented to somebody in the past. We hope that someone recognises them and will help us to find the rightful owners.
"It is possible that the owners have not yet realised that this cutlery is missing.
"Please contact us as soon as possible if you have any information that may assist with my investigation."
A 44-year-old Weymouth man has been released on police bail while enquires continue.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 26:108.
