A new year begins for us here in Weymouth, a whole myriad of events lay before us. Here are just a few of the highlights coming our way in 2013.
January
Big Garden Bird Watch Walk - Visit the RSPB Radipole lake for a spot of twitching with the experts.
February
Olympic Classes Regatta - Organised by the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a exhilarating boat race from Weymouth shores.
March
Best of Dorset Tourism and Leisure Show - Weymouth Pavilion hosts info stalls, workshops, local businesses, children's entertainment and local club displays.
April
Giant Easter Egg Hunt - Toddledown to Abbotsbury and join in the family event and find those eggs hidden all around Abbotsbury.
Quay to Quay Run - Classic vehicles show off their style on a leisurely drive between Poole Quay and Weymouth.
St Georges Day Parade - The seafront will be buzzing with entertainment, food and drink and there is even a sandcastle Competition for the creative types among us.
May
Beach Kite Festival - This events runs throughout the 3 day Bank Holiday weekend and Weymouth is jostling with visitors and of course some beautiful kite specimens. Ending with an amazing Firework Display on the Esplanade.
Oyster and Seafood Festival - Based on the quayside is a event that celebrates Weymouths fishing industry and heritage.
June
Wessex Folk Festival - Dancing, live and local music at venues all around Weymouth a celebration of everything folk.
Royal Dorset Regatta - Weymouth Bay will be festooned with
a myriad of watercraft coming to take part in the fun regatta.
July
Beach Volleyball - Tournaments are set to happen on Weymouth beach with some real contenders attending. For those not playing, there are plenty of stalls and entertainment.
August
Weymouth Carnival - The town rallies together a produces a wonderful procession through the streets, floats, music, stalls, demonstrations by the Coastguard ending with a major firework display.
Victorian Military Festival - Nothe Fort is invaded by groups performing historical re-enactments.
September
Youth and Masters Windsurfing Championship - A chance to view windsurf talent over this two day event on Weymouth beach.
October
Beach Motocross - The beach accommodates over 250 riders and thousands of spectators at Weymouths noisiest event.
November
Victorian Shopping Evening - Weymouth turns Victorian, with people dressed up, market stalls, entertainment and even some traditional carols to get us in the mood for Christmas.
December
Weymouth Christmas Sparkle - A sparkly event throughout the town, with local live music, markets stall, craft stalls, tasty seasonal treats and local celebrities.
