The organisers of Weymouth Carnival are threatening to cancel the event this year unless more cash can be found to pay for it.

Will Weymouth see a carnival in 2013?
The motorised procession, which takes place in late summer every year on Weymouth Esplanade, has been organised for the last three years by local Rotary Clubs. This year, however, an independent organiser has taken control and is finding it hard to raise the sponsorship money to fund it.
The Weymouth Carnival and Events Club is starting a fund-raising drive over the next two months and says that if local support is not forthcoming, there will be no carnival in 2013.
Is the Weymouth Carnival an important fixture in the summer calendar? If so, who do you think should pay for it? Public money, or the seafront business that profit from it? Let us know your thoughts...
