Silver Status For Regard

Care specialists Regard, who run more than 120 residential care homes and supported living and outreach projects across the UK - including 19 in the West Country, two of which are in Weymouth - have been presented with a prestigious award by industry assessors.

Regard has achieved an 'Investors in People' silver award in recognition of the way it has transformed its business performance through the support and motivation of its team.
Sandie Foxall-Smith, who was appointed chief executive officer of the company in June 2012, said the accreditation was in recognition of the hard work of care managers and their staff.
"We are delighted to have received such a positive report which is a true reflection of the dedication and effort from all the staff within Regard. The silver award is a credit to all involved in the business."
The report praised Regard, for being "genuinely committed to the ethos of continuous improvement" and the "enormous amount of dedication, hard work and real concern for the welfare and happiness of the residents".
"….Your employees feel genuine passion for, and commitment to, their work with service users and fully appreciate the skills and knowledge given to them through focussed learning and development".
John Telfer, managing director of Investors in People South, said: "Being presented with the silver award is a well-deserved achievement and demonstrates the high value Regard places on staff development.
"I hope organisations are encouraged by this example to work towards the Investors in People Standard, which can help to enhance competitiveness, boost turnover and increase staff retention."
The Investors in People assessor visited services in Caterham, London, Cardiff, Weymouth, Havant and Ferndown.
The silver award has been awarded to fewer than 600 organisations in the country, which is just 2.82 per cent of all organisations awarded the Investors in People standard.
The standard is a framework of best practice, awarded to well-run organisations that meet set criteria such as learning and development, leadership skills, and recognition and award of staff.
Regard, which was founded in 1994, employs more than 1400 direct care staff to support service users with learning disabilities, mental health needs or acquired brain injuries.
'Investors in People' is a business improvement tool administered by UK Commission for Employment and Skills and supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
