Weymouth and Portland Borough Council has made a move on the short term future of the Pavilion Theatre by reassuring organisers of shows booked before May that the venue will be available to them.

Shows booked at the Pavilion until May this year will go ahead.
This includes the shows, Miss Saigon (3rd - 6th April) and That'll be the Day (25th May).
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture Briefholder Ian Bruce said: "I am delighted that the council is now planning to allow events already booked at the pavilion until the end of May to take place."
The long-term future of the historic venue on Weymouth's seafront is not so certain - Councillors will meet next month to decide on this after requesting financial plans from groups interesting in running it. The council announced last year that it intended to demolish the Pavilion in favour of a new car park due to high running costs.
Cllr Bruce added: "The future of the pavilion financing is a vital issue to be resolved, but allowing bookings up to at least the end of May both ensures these events and things like the Mayor Making and counting of votes for the county council elections can take place without any additional costs to the local tax payers."
