Staff at Weymouth Gateway will support Wyvern Academy over the next 12 months through staff fundraising and volunteering.
Wyvern needs to raise £35,000 to revamp the school playground to make it more accessible for children with physical and sensory needs.
Lesley Mellor, chairwoman of the Friends of Wyvern, said: "We are absolutely delighted Sainsbury's has chosen to partner us. It's a dream come true for us.
"With their support we're hoping we can turn a dream into a reality. The playground improvements are desperately needed and will make a huge difference to the lives of our pupils."
The new playground will include a safe climbing area for children to climb and explore and include a special wheelchair swing and wheelchair-accessible roundabout.
"The work will make the play area accessible to all our students. At present there is little for those pupils who use wheelchairs," added Lesley.
Steve Jones, store manager of the new Weymouth Gateway Sainsbury's said: "We're delighted to be supporting the Wyvern Academy. The scheme gives customers and colleagues the chance to work together to support a local cause at the heart of the community."
Wyvern Academy is a purpose-built school in Weymouth for children and young people, aged from two to 19, with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder and includes a mainstream primary and secondary school and nursery.
The school is part of an educational campus that includes a mainstream primary and secondary school and nursery.
The new purpose-built energy efficient Sainsbury's store will include and in-store delicatessen, bakery, fish and meat counters, a customer restaurant, petrol station and 519 car parking spaces.
The store is set to create up to 400 new full and part-time job opportunities.
