Adam Peat has been appointed as the new chairman of Magna Housing Group.
Adam joined the Whitehall Civil Service in 1972 after graduating and was successively Head of the Welsh Office Housing Division, Chief Executive of Tai Cymru, the funder and regulator of Welsh Housing Associations, and Director of the Welsh National Assembly's Local Government Group. In 2003, he left the Civil Service to become Wales's first Public Services Ombudsman.
Mr Peat was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Year's honours list for service as Public Services Ombudsman for Wales, following his retirement in 2008.
Having moved to Dorset on his retirement, Adam joined the Magna Audit Committee in 2009, and was appointed to serve on the Board in October 2011.
Adam commented, 'Much of my career has been concerned with social housing, and I believe strongly in the importance of affordable housing. I joined the board at Magna because I wanted to help provide affordable housing in the area where I now live.
Magna exists to help people meet their housing needs and aspirations. I hope that in my time as chairman we will be able to improve still further the quality of services we give to our tenants and the communities we serve.'
